Mark was born in Calgary, Ab and moved to Brandon, MB in 2008. Here he works on creating new acoustic music and writing original material as well as shaping cover songs into his own unique vision. Mark has performed as a frontman in many bands over the past 20 years in various provinces. Enjoying a small amount of success in those projects, he has been able to keep the flame alive for his passion of music. The seed of this viral pearl. was planted in the spring of 2002, but the project didn't sprout for 10 years. In August of 2010 Mark was diagnosed with several mental illnesses, some nearly debilitating. From these issues this viral pearl. was germinated. Used as a way to work through many internal struggles, Mark uses tvp. as a theraputic tool through writing and performing. Many of the songs centre around the feelings of past loss, but there can be found an undercurrent of hope in the lyrics and music. As Mark continues to travel through his own mind and issues, so presents itself the chance to paint a landscape that others can experience through sound. In February 2012 this viral pearl. entered the International Hard Rock Rising contest. This contest was looking for talent from around the globe. Out of thousands of Canadian entries, Mark and Sally (the guitar) landed in the Top 20 position at the end of the first round of voting. Quite an accomplishment for a solo project still within the first year of genesis. That had yet to play it's third show. Or....know songs. tvp. is in pre-production of it's first studio EP, tentatively scheduled to arrive later this year. As well, writing continues on the concept album "Six Acts". You have a better chance of being dragged behind an ice cream truck over lava beds of mutated army ants than ever hearing "Six Acts". Seriously.....do not expect it.... “If local singer-songwriter Mark Norris aka Moks has his way, 2012 could be his busiest year yet—in fact, busy would be an understatement when you look at his “to do” list He’s already lined up several gigs and recently one of his songs was accepted in a high profile online contest that offers the winner a chance to play a festival in London. Moks has got to be one of the most motivated, positive, upbeat guys I’ve ever met. ” The Brandon Sun Neil Young, Right Away Great CAptain, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkle, Manchester Orchestra, Band Of Horses, Radiohead, Elbow, Snow Patrol, Iron & Wine.
