Bryan Finlay (born August 31st, 1993), is a Canadian Pop recording artist. His inspiration comes from such pop artists as Jessie J and Bruno Mars, rock acts such as Maroon 5 and Neon Trees, and Soul performers including Adele, Michael Buble, Ray Charles, and John Legend. Born and raised in Edmonton,

Alberta, Bryan has had an affinity for music for as long as he can
remember. As a young child, he would play simple melodies and sing along
to them on his father’s electric keyboard.

“His voice just came out of no where. Musical blood doesn’t really run in our family,” says Mr. Finlay.

It was not soon before long that Bryan’s parents realized music would be a part of their son’s life forever.

“My parents are the reason I started singing. I got my first taste of Bob
Marley and Ace of Base from them. Without their endless emotional
support, I would never have beenable to pursue my dream.”

Some of Bryan’s first public performances included fundraisers for Edmonton’s Youth Emergency Shelter, playing at TELUS Field, and for the RiverCree Resort Casino. Since then, Bryan has gone on to play for several major music venues including the Northern Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton Events Centre, Rick Bronson’s The Comic Strip, Edmonton EXPO Centre, and the NewCap Radio Stage West Edmonton Mall.

On top of performing, Bryan has also received the opportunity to compete
in several musical competitions, the most notable being in November 2010
for Top 40 station, 91.7 The Bounce. Competing against 140 other local musicians, Bryan was named the winner of the “7th Annual 91.7 The Bounce Showdown.
It was here that Canadian pop/R&B recording artist, Shawn Desman,
and the production duo of Hipjoint Music Group Vancouver discovered
Bryan’s talents. This win gave Bryan the opportunity to record with
world-class record producers, Mike James and Troy Samson (Hipjoint Music Group), both of whom have written and produced many successful commercial hits for artists such as, Hedley, Big Time Rush,Kelly Rowland, Kreesha Turner and Craig Smart.

From
there on in, Bryan has been spiraling up within the industry. In
February 2011, Finlay released his first self-titled EP through a
digital distribution deal with Hipjoint Music Group/Universal Music. In the same month, Finlay performed alongside recording artists Kreesha Turner(EMI), Shiloh(Universal), and JUNO Award winner Q- Benjamin in a showcase hosted by 91.7 The Bounce. Later that year, Bryan signed a Worldwide Licensing Deal with ‘DMX Music Licensing’ for Hollister/Abercrombie & Fitch C.O. They would later add his single Sentimental Fool to the Hollister Summer 2011 Playlist where it was featured globally. Sentimental Fool, went on to be a Top 20 radio hit, playing up against artists such as Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, and Adele. Bryan’s second single from his debut EP, All I Can Do, was picked up by Epitome Pictures in July 2011 and featured on the MuchMusic(Canada)/TeenNick(US) multiple-award winning hit Canadian teen drama television series, DEGRASSI . That same month All I Can Do hit the #1 spot on the Top 100 Chart on MuzicBuff.com. Other opportunities that Bryan has been able to be a part of included
co-hosting and commentating on a LIVE 2011 JUNO Awards Chat put on by
the Edmonton Journal. Bryan is currently working with the Edmonton based
production duo, Hands Up! And is releasing new music in 2012.

Bryan has always been an avid supporter of the local music scene that has
helped to shape young artists like himself, so much so, that he spent 5
months as part of the main judging panel for Season 3 of the artist
development program/competition, Edmonton Undiscovered.

“Supporting the local music scene is so important because it helps you stay true to
your roots. Being a local artist is where everything starts, and is
probably the most difficult thing to do. You have to be entirely
committed to expanding your connections. Just like when you’re in
school, if you want to get good grades, you have to be commit to
studying and knowing the work.”

Music aside, something else that has been close to Bryan’s heart is the increasingly common issue of peer pressure and bullying. Throughout his schooling, Bryan has dealt
with pressure and bullying from classmates. Though he struggled with
this, Bryan always rose up and over the negative comments he received,
and he has continued to grow as a person. Bryan strongly believes in
taking a stand against bullying.

“I would not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for those people in my
past. Nobody can change your morals and values. I want to be able to
speak to the world, tell them that life gets better after the storms.
Stay strong and keep your true friends and family close to your heart.”

ARTIST PRESS ITEMS

“He did it! Canadian teenager Bryan Finlay reaches the summit after an astounding 24 weeks. I cannot seem to get enough of this song. I truly believe this is a talent to watch! Watch for his other release “Sentimental Fool” to start making some noise in the coming weeks.”
Dave Geib - MuzicBuff.com
“Sigh. I adore Hollister. I don't know whether it's because all the blokes that work there are models; whether I'm going through a preppie phase right now or whether it's because each time I go in, I inevitably end up hearing this song and humming along to it all the live long day. This tune is definitely the highlight of their 2011 summer playlist with it's driving beat, singalong chorus, layered instrumentation and an accomplished vocal from the young (17!!) lad. A sign of great things to come. Immense, literally immense...”

“October 28th Mixer at Creations Dining Room and lounge brought in close to 150 people to celebrate Sebafest. With Bryan Finlay and his band playing acoustic versions of many Top 40 hits, it brought a new atmosphere to our mixers and seemed to liven up the crowd. “I have been very fortunate to photograph the album covers and promotion photos of the past three winners(Bounce Showdown): Justin Blais, Beatrice Love, and more recently this year's winner, Bryan Finlay. He's only 17 but has the most incredible voice! We got to shoot at the Red Piano in West Edmonton Mall, which is a seriously cool place to shoot. If you have a second, check Bryan out on Facebook and YouTube - he's recently posted his first 2 singles and a clip of him crooning Katy Perry's Teenage Dream live on The Bounce. I'm glad I got to meet and photograph this fine young gentleman, he's got such a positive attitude and I know he will go far!”
