Jo Kamel Band
Jo
Kamel Band is a hard hitting blues base rock recording act. The
core of Jo Kamel features: Darrell Mayes drums, Jake Dawson - lead
vocals, guitar and Claytone -bass guitar. Session guitarist
PaulPigat.
Jo
Kamel's original project features Claytones compelling compositions.
He has been writing for several years and has amassed three albums
worth of material. This, as well as his long time association with
keyboard virtuoso and recording artist David Stone (Rainbow), has
resulted in a high crafted sense of “musicality”. Produced by
David Stone such songs as “Free” and “The Long Cool Night”
are infectious, blues based, hard rocking journeys that guarantee to
turn the heads of music lovers the world over. David has also
provided killer Hammond B-3 to the table. Claytone has recorded his
music in search of that perfect blend of feel and dynamic. In
bringing together this group, he has finally found highly competent
musicians that share his dream of creating a high energy, cutting
edge sound steeped in the rock classics of the twentieth century. Jo
Kamel is ready to deliver.
Darrell Mayes (middle) is of that rare breed of musician that can
inspire several generations of music lovers with his versatile and
hard-edged style of drumming. He spent seven years of his life
touring with Colin James during the “Voodoo Thing” era.
Jake Dawson (right) is a gift young 26 year old singer who hails from
100 Mile House, BC. Jake loves and embraces all styles of music and
comes from a music family. Both of his parent's are musician's and
have always played in a band. Thus being raised around music. Jake's
musical delivery is energized, direct and very soulful.
“Claytone” (left) is the writer and producer of Jo Kamel's
original recording act. He is a seasoned musician and veteran of high
caliber bar bands and tribute groups stretching from the early 1990’s
to the present. Claytone has toured western Canada extensively and
polished his skills from the School of Classic Rock and Blues. His
has “contained energy” in songs that evoke emotional response
from a wide variety of listeners. As comfortable on stage as he is in
the studio, Claytone is an exacting musician that lives, eats, and
breathes music. He is the heart of Jo Kamel and has successfully
built his dream: a musical group consisting of four different
generations of music.
Review from Lucas CampbellHaving seen this band evolve from it’s beginnings as a musical studio project I feel excited for Jo Kamel as they have worked hard to achieve the sound that they wanted. They have acquitted themselves in fine style by producing some outstanding recordings. Check out their excellent debut CD release. I have no hesitation in saddling up with Jo Kamel Band. “Long Cool Night” sounds like a winner to me! Music Comments: The whimsical factors of Joe Kamel ends with its band name. It's all serious rock and roll from there. With shades of fellow countrymen Triumph, a track like "What's it Coming To" mixes hard and light rock with ease and professionalism. The other song of note is "Free", featuring a blistering guitar riff thatkicks off the song and never lets up. It's the best of the bunch of this foursome from our North.
